Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery can be hugely beneficial to improve posture and enable a more healthy and active lifestyle.

Women who have very large pendulous breasts – may be living with back ache, poor posture and soreness caused from bra straps – can benefit greatly from a breast reduction. You may also experience unwanted attention and people staring at your breasts, which can be very debilitating and distressing.

By removing excess tissue and fat from the breasts, our consultant plastic surgeons will reposition and reshape the breasts, giving you more self confidence and the freedom to live the life you want to live.

What’s involved in breast reduction surgery?

A breast reduction procedure is performed under a general anaesthetic, and different surgical techniques may be applied depending on what you and your surgeon have discussed at consultation.

Your surgeon may use an incision pattern or opt for the more common ‘anchor’ incision; this involves making cuts around the nipple areola, vertically down the breast and horizontally all the way under the breast.

Understanding the risks involved in a breast reduction and what happens after surgery, as detailed
in our FAQ, will help you decide whether it is right for you.
